Terms of Use

These terms explain the rules for using Astyq and the important limits of nutrition estimates and AI-generated drafts.

1. Agreement

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) form an agreement between you and the developer identified as the seller of Astyq on its Apple App Store product page (“Astyq,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By downloading, accessing, or using Astyq, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Astyq.

Your license to the iOS application is also subject to Apple’sStandard Licensed Application End User License Agreement, unless a custom license displayed in the App Store applies.

2. What Astyq does

Astyq is a personal nutrition logging tool. It can turn meal text or a short voice recording into an editable draft containing food items, quantities, calories, and macronutrients. You must review and confirm a draft before it is saved. AI cannot independently edit or delete existing diary entries.

3. Not medical advice

Consult a qualified healthcare professional for health decisions. If you believe you have an emergency, contact local emergency services.

4. Eligibility and account

You must be at least 14 years old and old enough to consent to these Terms where you live. If local law requires parental consent, a parent or guardian must authorize your use. Astyq currently creates an anonymous Firebase guest account to protect backend access. You are responsible for maintaining control of your device and for activity from your installation.

5. Your responsibilities

You agree to:

• review AI drafts and nutrition values before saving or relying on them;
• provide only content you have the right to submit;
• use Astyq lawfully and for personal nutrition logging;
• respect service limits and not bypass authentication, App Check, rate limits, or other safeguards; and
• keep your iPhone and Apple account appropriately secured.

6. Prohibited use

You may not:

• reverse engineer, disrupt, overload, scrape, or probe Astyq except where law expressly allows;
• use automation to evade limits or create abusive traffic;
• submit unlawful, infringing, malicious, or harmful content;
• use Astyq to make automated decisions about another person; or
• misrepresent AI estimates as verified medical or laboratory results.

7. AI and third-party services

AI drafts and transcriptions are produced using third-party services, currently OpenAI. Authentication, app verification, and hosting use Google Cloud and Firebase. Website delivery uses Cloudflare, and Apple provides the App Store and platform services. These providers may have their own terms and policies. Availability, model behavior, and provider capabilities may change.

AI output can contain errors or omit ingredients. Astyq does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or fitness of a draft for any particular purpose. Your confirmation means you chose to save the reviewed values; it does not turn them into professionally verified data.

8. Subscriptions and purchases

Astyq may offer paid features or an auto-renewable subscription. The App Store purchase screen will show the price, billing period, trial (if any), and included features before purchase. Payment is charged to your Apple account. Unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, an auto-renewable subscription renews as described by Apple. Manage or cancel it in your Apple subscription settings. Apple handles billing and applicable refunds under its policies and law.

9. Your content and the Astyq service

You retain rights in content you submit. You give Astyq a limited permission to process submitted content only as needed to provide, secure, and support the service as described in the Privacy Policy. Saved diary data remains in local app storage unless you choose to export it.

Astyq, its software, design, branding, and non-user content are protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms grant only a personal, limited, revocable, non-transferable right to use the service.

10. Availability and changes

Astyq is under active development. We may change, suspend, limit, or discontinue features, providers, models, or the service. We do not promise uninterrupted or error-free availability. We will provide notice where required by law.

11. Suspension and deletion

We may restrict backend access when reasonably necessary to protect users, the service, or third parties; enforce these Terms; or comply with law. You can stop using Astyq at any time. Use “Delete Account and Data” in Settings to remove the Firebase guest account and local Astyq data, then remove the app if desired.

12. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Astyq is provided “as is” and “as available.” We disclaim implied warranties including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, non-infringement, and availability. Nothing in these Terms excludes a warranty or consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded.

13. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Astyq and its developer will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, goodwill, or business arising from use of or inability to use Astyq. Any aggregate liability will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid for Astyq during the 12 months before the claim or USD 100. These limits do not apply where prohibited by law.

14. Governing terms

Mandatory consumer protections and rights in your place of residence continue to apply. Otherwise, these Terms are governed by the laws applicable where Astyq’s App Store seller is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts with jurisdiction over that seller will have non-exclusive jurisdiction, unless applicable law gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere.

If part of these Terms is unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain effective. Our failure to enforce a term is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them as part of a reorganization or transfer of Astyq, subject to law.

15. Changes and contact

We may update these Terms. We will update the effective date and provide additional notice when required. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms, except where law requires another form of consent.
